Clients are an optional function within LegalWorks. In LegalWorks, a Client is a container to group LegalWorks Matters for a single customer together. You can assign a matter to a client for purposes of keeping all cases for a particular client grouped together.
To navigate to Clients in LegalWorks, click Clients in the LegalWorks QuickLaunch (left navigation). From here you will see a list of all Active Clients. You can also change the view to show All Clients or My Clients.
Each client record has a number of fields you may optionally populate to help organize and sort clients.
Title. The name of the client.
Client Status. The status of the client, either Active, Inactive or Prospective. This defines which of the Views this client will appear under (Active Clients, All Clients and My Clients).
Primary Attorney(s). You can assign one or more users as the Primary Attorney for this client, which places this client in the My Clients view for that user.
Assinging Matters to Clients
If you often have multiple matters for a single customer, you can create a Client record in LegalWorks for that customer, then assign that client to a matter in the Matter screen.
Once you’ve assigned one or more Matters to a particular Client, you can open that Client in LegalWorks to see a list of Matters for that Client.
